Your workshop Leaders

Tina Young Head of Data Management ClinTrials Research Tina Young has over 13 years experience in the Pharmaceutical industry, working at Syntex and Wyeth Research.  She joined ClinTrials Research 12 months ago and has overseen the expansion of the data management group to a new facility in Glasgow.  Over the years, Tina has been involved in the evaluation and implementation of a number of process improvement activities.

clinbs.jpg (2197 bytes)is a global Contract Research organisation with over 20 years experience in designing and conducting preclinical and clinical trials the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. With offices established world-wide, and over 1500 employees, ClinTrials Research offers all the components of research and development through phases I to IV.

Dr Jane Sharpels Senior Consultant Cap Gemini Life Sciences Jane Sharples has been with Cap Gemini since 1996.  She gained an MBA with distinction in 1996 and a PhD in Renal Physiology in 1989.  Dr. Sharpels' particular expertise lies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.  She has experience in establishing, monitoring and managing clinical research programmes, managing outsourcing contracts, marketing and sales support, organisational design plan and business transformation

10:00 Introduction to the workshop

10:15 Effectively mapping your current data management processes to pinpoint areas of improvement
Discussion to pinpoint the group’s individual experiences in order to pinpoint the key similarities and differences of inter-company data management. Parallels will be drawn and areas of potential improvement agreed upon.

11:30 Morning coffee

11:50 Exploring the possible solutions: considering the pros and cons of traditional paper-based methods of data management versus the implementation of new technology
The strategic implications of each technical methods of data management will be considered, including an exploration of the managerial implications of transferring to a new system. The participants may form break-off groups to discuss their ideas in greater detail

13:00 Lunch

14:00 Reporting back on the proposed solutions

Three elected ‘team leaders’ will report back to the group, followed by general discussion on the participant’s’ individual experience of the solutions on offer

14:40 Seeing your decisions through: ensuring the compatibility of your new methods and systems on a national, international and cross-company basis

Workshop participants will discuss the practical problems they envisage will arise by implementing the new systems and processes, with solutions being offered both from the workshop leaders’ experience and from the shared experience of the group

15:40 Afternoon Tea

16:00 Summary of the day’s achievement and conclusions

A 10 point action-plan to be drawn up to provide participants with immediate and concrete benefits to take back to the office and improve their data management operation.
